Using R in Astronomy

Alastair Sanderson of the University of Birmingham has a fantastic set of pages for astronomers using R. For astronomers thinking about getting started with R, there's a tutorial based on examples using astronomical data. The getting started using R page, dense with practical examples of R code, would be useful to any R beginner, not just astronomers. There's also gallery of astronomy-related charts done in R.

It's terrific to see these examples of R's use beyond the "traditional" statistical domains. Perhaps we'll see an R chart on APOD one day?
